Session Info

WHAT  TO  EXPECT

Since most photo sessions are conducted “on-location” (park, beach, etc.), natural lighting works best.  Your photo session will be scheduled at a time that will ensure optimal lighting.  This often means early morning hours (before 10am) or late afternoon hours (after 5pm).  Bright sunlight will cause harsh shadows and squinting in the photos, which should be avoided at all costs!
Your session will typically last 1 to 2 hours.  Newborn sessions tend to last longer than other sessions as I give the baby time to rest, sleep, eat, and get comfortable.  When scheduling your session, please take into account the best times of day for your baby and/or children.  Plan around feeding times, naps, bedtimes, etc. to ensure that your little one is in the best mood possible.
Plan on a pretty, yet simple, location.  If you are unsure of the best location, I can provide suggestions.  There are many beautiful locations in the Tampa Bay area.
Consider bringing a change of clothes (or several for babies) in case of “accidents”.

WHAT  TO  WEAR

Simple outfits work best, as you want the focus to be on the person and not his or her clothing.  Avoid busy or contrasting patterns, and consider flattering colors rather than all white.  Please do not dress your children in logo’d or cartoon clothing.  Khakis, overalls, simple dresses and jeans are all good options.  Bare feet tend to add a fun and relaxed feel to photos (for children and grown-ups too!).
For newborns, a plain diaper cover or bare skin is best.  Please remove any tight clothing/diapers before the photo session to avoid any marks on your newborn’s skin.
For group photos, it is not necessary for everyone to match; however, you should dress in similar colors and tones that compliment each other.  If everyone is coordinated, no one person will stand out.
Pack a small bag with a comb, brush, handheld mirror, and anything else you think you may need.
Feel free to bring a prop for baby / children’s photos.  A teddy bear or favorite blanket can make the photo more personal.
And finally… have fun!!!

AFTER  YOUR  SESSION

After your session, I will work on post-processing your images to ensure that each one reaches its fullest potential.  Seven to ten days after your session, your 20 – 30 proof images will be uploaded to a password protected gallery.  This gallery will be live for 15 days, during which you can share it with family and friends, and use it to help you in placing your order.  Please note that the gallery will be removed on the 16th day following your session.  If you need to have it reactivated, there is a $25 reactivation fee.

I offer a 10% discount for those who place their order within the first three days of the gallery going live.  Your order will be ready approximately two-three weeks after your order date.

Payment can be made with cash, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Discover) through Paypal.

ESPECIALLY  FOR  NEWBORNS

It is strongly recommended that newborn photos are taken within the first 7-10 days of life.  After this, babies are more easily awakened, and it becomes difficult to get those precious folded-up baby shots.  I urge parents to be prepared to be in some of the photos, as I often use them as props to help hold the baby.  Parents, please wear solid black for a newborn session.  I will take several shots of just your hands, holding your new bundle of joy.  It is beneficial to keep your home extremely warm during the session (eighty degrees or warmer) as babies are more comfortable this way.  Its also best to try to have your baby fed just prior to your session.  Of course, I understand this is not always possible, and I allow extra time for newborns to work around their schedule to ensure we get the best photos possible.
If you are expecting and would like to set up a newborn session, please contact me and tell me your due date.  I will work around this to make sure I’m available to photograph your new addition at the perfect time.
